Where David Stands

Stop the Tax Hikes & Protect Taxpayers

Massachusetts doesn't need higher taxes. We need smarter spending and accountability.

David's Plan

  • Oppose the 'Municipal Empowerment Act' that quietly raises taxes on meals, lodging, and excise taxes
  • Defend Proposition 2½ which has protected homeowners from runaway property taxes for over 40 years
  • Fight against proposals to tax medicine and prescriptions when families are struggling with healthcare costs
  • Demand smarter spending and accountability for where our money goes

Lower Energy Costs and Secure Reliable Power

Energy policy should be about affordability, accountability, and common sense.

David's Plan

  • End Beacon Hill's overreliance on costly energy dictates and push for true energy independence
  • File legislation to dissolve the wasteful MassSave program and replace it with a lean, accountable framework
  • Introduce legislation requiring the Legislature to directly approve any utility cost increases
  • Fight for a balanced, reliable mix of energy sources that keep rates stable and affordable

Restore Accountability to State Government

If we can't audit the government, we can't trust it to manage our money.

David's Plan

  • Vote to open the books and require transparency in legislative spending
  • Support the independent audit of the State Legislature that 70% of voters approved
  • Hold government accountable to the people, not the politicians
  • End the culture of secrecy and restore public trust in how our money is managed

Protect Freedom of Movement & Stop Hidden Transportation Taxes

Beacon Hill politicians are pushing new mileage based fees and driving restrictions that amount to yet another hidden tax on working families, while they continue to collect their own travel stipends. These proposals make it more expensive to live, work, and access essential services, especially outside of Boston.

David's Plan

  • Mileage based fees and driving restrictions disproportionately hurt commuters, tradespeople, shift workers, and seniors, particularly those who must travel to access our world class hospitals in Boston and throughout the Commonwealth.
  • These policies assume everyone lives near public transit. Massachusetts is more than Boston, and families in suburban and regional communities should not be penalized for where they live or work.
  • Asking residents to pay more for driving, while Beacon Hill politicians do not bear the same costs, is unfair and out of touch.
  • Massachusetts doesn't need restrictions on movement or another quiet money grab. We need better roads, smarter infrastructure investments, and reliable transportation options, without punishing the people who keep our economy and communities running.

Cut Red Tape and Wasteful Mandates

Local governments are drowning in regulations and state-imposed costs.

David's Plan

  • Modernize outdated procurement laws that create delays and drive up project costs
  • Fight to reduce unfunded mandates that force municipalities to spend more without state reimbursement
  • Give towns flexibility to meet local needs without new taxes
  • End wasteful directives like school transportation requirements that leave buses nearly empty

Stand Up for Local Control and Responsible Housing

Housing policy should reflect our communities' voices, not Beacon Hill's bureaucracy.

David's Plan

  • Protect local control over zoning and planning decisions
  • Repeal or reform the MBTA Communities Law that forces towns into dense development they can't support
  • Reform Chapter 40B to ensure affordable housing projects include local input and transparency
  • Support responsible growth that reflects a town's character, capacity, and infrastructure

A Common-Sense Vision for Massachusetts

Our district deserves a representative who stands up for our values.

David's Plan

  • Fiscal responsibility — stop the endless tax hikes
  • Local control — let towns and cities make their own choices
  • Government accountability — open the books, end insider politics
  • Affordable living — lower utility bills, rein in state mandates
  • Practical solutions — not costly and time-consuming political theater

There are several more important issues facing our district. If you wish to speak with David about any topic, please email him at David@ElectDavidGolden.com
